Metal Bike Horn from Schylling Review

Metal Bike Horn from SchyllingWe bought this horn for my daughter's new bike. I love the classic look of it, and the sound certainly won't disappoint. It's a classic, high-pitched quack of sorts that is slightly different in pitch when the air is forced out and when the air is sucked back into the horn.

I would have given it five stars, based on how well it works, but the smell of the vinyl is appallingly bad. I could smell it before I opened the box it came in. After honking it twice, my hands stink terribly. I put it on my desk, and I think I'm going to have to move it, it's making me feel a little headachey.

We have a month before my daughter's birthday. I hope somehow the smell will dissipate, but I have my reservations. Stinky vinyl is often a permanent condition. I guess I'd sort of hoped the bulb would have been made of rubber instead of vinyl.

Like all things Schylling, it's a really great idea, but it's really just wasted when they turn to cheap, China manufacturing. What a shame.

Product Description:
Clarabell's Horn You get two tones (one squeezing, the other while the bulb inhales) from this retro bike horn, whose tone is much more a Clarabellian quack (see Howdy Doody if you're too young) than a deep Harpo Marxian (ditto) honk. Which is good on a bicycle. Measures 8" long with a 2-3/8" bell and a rubber bulb that will be either red, black, or purple. Includes a removable handlebar mount.
