Electric Pocket Bikes: Electra Bicycle Bell (Ding Dong Chrome Plated) Review

This is the fourth bike bell I've had in the past year.The first was the unsatisfactory bell you get on a new bike.The second broke in an accident and the third sounded bad and wasn't loud.As I regularly ride on shared paths I bought the biggest and loudest bell I could find so the elderly and those with iPods jammed in their ears have a chance of hearing me.

There are two Electra ding-dong bells:80mm (which I have) and 60mm, which has a higher tone.

Cons - not really a con but it's a BIG bell.It's very obvious and takes up considerable bar space.I'm not sure the fittings are rust-proof.

Pros - it's loud with a high-low ding-dong chime like a door bell. It's a comparatively deep tone: melodious and resonant. It can be heard 100 metres away - plenty of time to warn pedestrians.It gives a pleasant, timely warning.In fact just in the past week two joggers called out "Nice bell!" after me.That's the best recommendation you could have.
