I have two sons 5 and 3 who I bought this for. I thought my 5 year old could learn to balance and "scoot" before trying to pedal his bike. The problem is that the bike is too small for him. I regret not paying more attention to the measurements. I only read the ages that it was appropriate for. My 5 year old is so tall for this bike (although he is average height for a 5 year old) that when sitting on it he looks like me sitting on a 12" bike. It's not practical for him at all.
