I have mixed feelings about my Scout Bikers.On one hand their relatively low ballistic skill means that they only hit about 50% of the time.Combine that with low to mid strength weapons and the chances of these guys coming through when you need them is sketchy at best. On the other hand the bike affords them a slightly higher toughness value which actually does come in handy every once and awhile but this can easily be negated by their low armor strength.The turbo-boost/flat out ability is a nice and easy way to get in the enemy backfield too.The Astartes Grenade launchers work wonders, especially against rear and side vehicle armor, if you can get them to hit.The Cluster mines do tend to make your opponent wary of entering area terrain and has the possibility (I did say possibility) to make him pay for it if he does. The only problem with these upgrades is that they significantly increase the point cost of the unit. You could do better for less (Attack Bikes).Overall Scout Bikers are a good harassment tool and that's about it.They can look nice on the table if you put the effort into building/painting them. It is extremely funny, I must admit, when these guys manage to destroy a troop transport, artillery piece or even a light tank.They are fun to use but for tournament or even league play you're better off going with something more effective (Attack Bikes).
