I feel like I'm always reading reviews for toddler things where adults receive the item and it's smaller than they expected. (Ironic, as measurements are usually provided.) I purchased this item for my son when he was 18 months old with size in mind, and knowing I would watch him closely as the 3-year-old recommendation age is most assuredly due to safety. My son adored this tricycle as soon as he discovered it Christmas morning. He couldn't reach the pedals or the floor, but he would sit on it and try to make it go, or push it around our house. His feet finally reach the ground when he's in it now (and almost two.) It's been perfectly safe at this early age as I closely supervise my son anyway, with him having a heart condition.
