Bell 1 2 3 Child Carrier with Toddler Helmet Review

Bell 1 2 3 Child Carrier with Toddler HelmetThis carrier does what it designed to do but it could use some improvement.First, it was no easy feat to assemble and I am pretty handy and follow diections well.Secondly, once the child is in, the belt assembly has to be slipped through slits to the back where a hook and loop fastener holds them together.I don't see where that is really very safe.In addition, the plastic guard under the seat has scrathced the back of my ankle several times and I have started riding with my foot more forward on the pedal than I normally would.Still, it does the job of carrying my 2 years on my bike, and he enjoys it.

Kettler Flipper Child Bicycle Seat Review

Kettler Flipper Child Bicycle SeatOur son is just over 2 years old, 37 inches and about 36 lbs. It was very hard to find a bike seat that would hold his weight for now and for a while longer.

This Flipper is one of the few I could find and we decided to go with this due to the good price I got.

The bike seat was easy to assemble to the bike and the rides are great! Our son loves to go on a bike ride. He sits very comfortable and this seat will be big enough for another year or more. There is lots more to grow length wise and this seat holds up to 50 lbs! Fantastic - recommended for everyone that wants a comfortable and safe/sturdy bike seat for your precious one!

Schwinn Turbo Bike Trailer - SC775 Review

Schwinn Turbo Bike Trailer - SC775We've had our Schwinn Trailer for one year.My daughter enjoys riding in it very much. There is a place for her drink, and the seat is comfortable enough that on longer rides she falls asleep.
I bought one of those seats that fits on the back of a bicycle, but it wouldn't fit.The back fender of my bicycle was too wide for the seat, and we didn't want to force it.I'm glad it didn't fit.The trailer is just great. It rolls smoothly on inflated rubber tires.I'm careful when turning that I don't hit curbs, the trailer turns very well. My daughter has room to wiggle her feet, without kicking me, she is protected from the sun, and mosquitoes with the cover and the bug/debris net.The side windows are easy to see out of.She enjoys riding in the trailer, and sometimes we even take the neighbor's granddaughter with us.They both fit comfortably (remember less than 100 lbs)It's a great purchase.

Kettler Flipper/Teddy Bicycle Seat Adapter Review

Kettler Flipper/Teddy Bicycle Seat AdapterWe bought this bicycle carrier because our son outgrew the one that went on the handlebars. It was easy to install, is easy to swap between bicycles. The only issue I really have is that the feet of the carrier are pretty far forward, and I keep hitting my heels on my son's feet.To combat this, you have to peddle with the middle of your feet, instead of the balls of your feet.Much more of a workout that way.

Product Description:
Not every bike can accommodate the Kettler Flipper or Teddy child seat by itself, which is where this seat adapter comes into play. The adapter, which fits on virtually any type of bicycle, lets you enjoy the full benefits of either child seat without buying a whole new bike. The adapter works simply: just use one of the included shims to create a custom fit on your frame, then mount the Flipper or Teddy on top. Thanks to the bracket cutouts, derailer cables can pass through uninhibited. Plus, the adapter doesn't require any additional tools, as all the required accessories are included. So don't give up just because your newly purchased Flipper or Teddy child seat (not included) doesn't work with your longtime ride. Check out this versatile adapter instead.

WeeRide Stage Coach Double Bike Trailer Review

WeeRide Stage Coach Double Bike TrailerWe were undecided while searching for a bike trailer.I specifically was looking at the safety features and ease of attaching to a bike. The trailer was easy to set up.No tools were needed. It was set up in less than 5 minutes. It's lightweight and easy to tow around on your bike.My son, who is 18 months old, absolutely loves it.I do have to agree with a couple of the reviews though in regards to having 2 kids in there. My son sits comfortably by himself in the middle. If there were 2 kids, it looks like they might be cramped. There are 3 sets of seatbelts, so it's nice to have your choice of where you want your child to sit.Since he's by himself, he gets to sit in the middle. There's plenty of leg room for the kids and there's a small space underneath their seat to put maybe a jacket or blanket or whatever else. The pockets on the inside of the trailer are nice, so the kids can put their drinks or something else in there. There's a specific feature on this trailer that I didn't see listed on the others. It's a spring adjustment were it hooks onto the bike.It keeps the trailer upright, in case the bike tips over and it does work.I've hit the edge of the curb a couple of times from going off and on the sidewalks and from not paying attention.I noticed the trailer stays on the ground.I was very impressed. It does come with a safety flag and it easily slides along one of the rear sides, in between the canvas and the metal frame and stays put.I love the choice of the mesh screen or the clear plastic cover for wind or bad weather.I'm so glad we picked this trailer.I highly recommend it, when it comes available again.Blood Brothers (Sign of Seven Trilogy, Book 1)The Hollow (Book Two of the Sign of Seven Trilogy)

Croozer 535 Double Child Bicycle Trailer (Green/Grey/Black) Review

Croozer 535 Double Child Bicycle TrailerMy wife wanted a trailer for her bike, so I looked at different offerings from Burley, Chariot, and Schwinn before stumbling across Croozer. I wasn't looking for the cheapest trailer I could find, but I was also hoping to keep things under $1,000.

Since I hadn't heard of Croozer before, I did some research online and tried to find one in a store before buying. That was probably the hardest part of the purchase -- many of the stores listed on Croozer's site (at least, the ones near me) didn't have a floor model to look at. Eventually, I found one that had the Croozer 525 Double Child Bicycle Trailer, and ended up liking it. So, I figured I'd go with the upgraded model to get the advertised five-point harness and a little more cargo space.

I ended up ordering from Amazon, and the trailer arrived unscathed. Putting the trailer together was reasonably easy, because I had the required tools. You'll need an allen wrench, Phillips screwdriver, and an 11mm wrench to put this together at minimum. Having a ratchet with a Torx bit, an 11mm socket, and an 11mm wrench helped tremendously. The instructions leave a lot to be desired, and have very grainy pictures, but fortunately, there's little "real" assembly -- you just put reflectors on the front bumper, and put the front bumper on the trailer. The wheels snap in with a pushbutton release in the center, the stroller arm goes in with a couple of pins, and everything else is basically pre-assembled. (But yes, the front bumper is a big enough pain that it warranted some griping)

What really surprised me was that the trailer itself was basically the same as the 525. Although Croozer lists the 535 as having a five-point harness and doesn't list that as a feature of the 525, their harnesses looked the same to me. The 535 has two arm / leg loops and a center strap which comprises a five-point safety system that actually snaps together as three pieces. The top of the straps have some nice padding on the shoulders and back, which I didn't see on some of the more expensive trailers from other brands.

The trailer arm has a rotating spring mechanism, which makes the trailer move fluidly with the bike, while at the same time, keeps the trailer upright if your bike isn't. Croozer uses an axle post with a pin-and-retainer mechanism to attach to your bike. If your rear wheel has a quick release, installing it takes about five minutes, tops. One thing I was especially happy about, was that Croozer includes two axle posts, so I was able to put one on my bike too, without spending more money.

The stroller wheel looks a bit cheap, but works well (note: if you do buy this, make sure the strap that holds the pin for the stroller wheel is under the bumper when you assemble it!). You don't have to remove the trailer arm to use this as a regular stroller (but you probably should, if you're planning to walk around town with it). As a stroller, this thing glides wherever you push it, and the rear brakes are super solid.

The jogging wheel is surprisingly secure, but since I'm not a jogger, I can't really say much about it beyond the build quality.

In terms of overall build quality, this looks and feels every bit as good as the more expensive trailers. In the research I did, a few people were calling the 535 a "Chinese (Chariot) Cougar 2". Having actually seen a Cougar 2, I can certainly see the comparisons. I wouldn't go as far as saying they're identical, but I don't think the Cougar 2's materials are nice enough to justify the price difference of several hundred dollars. In any case, I didn't find any part of the trailer that left me concerned about our child's safety (which was not the case with some of the InStep and Schwinn trailers I had looked at previously).

If you're not planning to go jogging, you may want to save some money and go with the 525. With the exception of the jogging wheel and a few 10cm (about 4") differences in width and height, the 525 and 535 are basically the same. One notable place where that difference may matter to you is the height of the stroller bar (the 535 bar is about 4" higher, making it much more comfortable for me to push at 6'1"). Despite being disappointed that this was so similar to the 525, I didn't regret the purchase at all, and would absolutely buy this again if I had it to do over.

Product Description:
New parents know that baby items take up quite a bit of space. So why make things harder on yourself by buying a bunch of separate items when one will do the trick? Enter the Croozer 535 double child carrier, which combines a stroller, jogger, and bicycle trailer all in one. The Croozer 535's body remains the same regardless of the use, with a two-in-one integrated cover that protects against insects and the weather, along with a comfortable seat area that holds two kids. However, the front of the unit varies depending on the use. As a bicycle carrier, the Croozer 535 offers a sturdy bicycle hitch arm with two axle-mounted hitches. Once your bike ride is complete, you can attach the 8-inch stroller wheel and walk your children to the grocery store or around the block. And when it's time to burn a few calories, you can swap the 8-inch wheel for a larger 16-inch front wheel, which offers sturdy front arms for added stability while jogging. Not only can your little ones be with you wherever you go, but you won't have to make space in the garage or basement for three different child carriers.
The Croozer 535 is extremely safe thanks to the low center of gravity, which will keep your children from tipping around turns. And parents will love the spacious storage area behind the seat, which is ideal for toys, groceries, and other smallish items. Best of all for space-challenged parents, the trailer offers a patented quick fold system for easy storage in small rooms. Other features include reflective tape on the sides and rear, a safety flag for use as a bike carrier, 21.5 inches of leg room and 24.5 inches of head room, a 100-pound weight capacity, and 20-inch spoked wheels in the rear.
The Croozer 535--which meets or exceeds all ASTM trailer standards--measures 34.5 by 38.5 by 42 inches (W x H x D) with the handle and weighs 36 pounds.

The Croozer 535 converts from a bike trailer to a stroller or jogger.

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier Review

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child CarrierI purchased this child carrier last year and have nothing to complain about. The seat itself is not "wobbly", it is just flexible. No safety issues there. The screws do not come loose.I have taken off this child carrier at least a dozen times to ride solo and never had a problem with screws coming loose.Being a worry wart I check the screws everytime before riding with my 3-yr old daughter and they have never once been loose. My daughter loves sitting in the back. She can see just fine.I feel much more secure with this carrier than the ones that mount in front of you.Who hasn't had a bug, leaf, or small pebble come up and hit you in the face when riding?I sure am glad it happens to me and not my daughter. Also, God forbid we were to hit anything. What if we were to flip over?I sure wouldn't want to fall on top of my daughter.
Anyway, thought I might share my experiences/opinions.
I am truely happy with this and at the current price how could you lose.I paid forty dollars more for the same model.

InStep Quick N Lite Bike Trailer (Red/Gold/Grey) Review

InStep Quick N Lite Bike TrailerI researched this purchase alot and I found the reviews to be helpful so I will add my insights.
I have many years of biking experience and am a former bike mechanic. I would have recomended this trailer to my old customers.
The trailer is well made. The welds are very good and the canopy fits tightly. You do need to adjust some straps to get it to fit spot-on but that's to be expected.
This trailer is light and easy to fold up and store as well as unfold and get ready. The process to go from folded to ready to roll is about 4 minutes. The trailer is self explanitory so you don't need to haul the directions around to get it set up.
The bike hook up is easy, however you need to balance the bike upright to do the hook up. Not a big deal and once the coupling is complete you can lay the bike down.
I have two kids who will use the trailer. They are a tight fit inside as I expected. They are comfortable; they have good leg room and a spot for each of them to have cups etc. There is ample room behind them for storage too. The saftey straps are a real bugger. They are not a fastex buckle as you would expect. They are a snap-hook and a "D" ring hook for the shoulder straps. This is ok going on and a pain getting off. Not horrid but really annoying.
The trailer tracks the bike very well. It does change the geometry of the bike though; so it will take some getting used to. The added weight really is a good workout. I have kept the speed down. I don't want to really be moving and need to do a quick manuver with it. You do need to be careful about clearance though. Keep in mind your footprint is three times larger than without the trailer.
I have been sticking to pavement for now. I want to get my daughters comfortable with it before I go to dirt roads. I will have to do some adjusting of the tire pressure for off road so they don't bounce to death.
Over all for the price you are getting more than your moneys worth. I will add to this review if I have an issue down the road.
************* Update 7/18/07. We have around 200 miles on the trailer. So far there have been two issues. The first is with the front wheel you use when using the trailer as a stroller. My wife used it twice and noticed one of the wheels was tilted.-The amazon picture shows one front wheel, there are actually two side-by-side- It ended up being more than tilted the axle was bent badly. I called InStep and they shipped a replacment out very quickly. I would really caution you not to load this up and use it as a stroller...the front wheel just can't handle it.
The second issue is a trivial one yet it is an area that a design change could be made. The floor of the trailer is fabric. When rolling your child needs to keep their feet on the front frame bar. If they do not they can push the fabric down so it rubs along the ground. My daughter did this for a short trip and one area is now very worn. It would not take long to get a hole. A plastic tray or a rub pad on the bottom could solve this. So far asking them to keep their feet on the bar has sufficed....just keep it in mind.
I would rate this as my best buy of the year and one I wish I done three years ago. I'll update this again if an issue crops up.
