Vitesse Double Gel X-Factor Bicycle Seat Cover Review

I bought this seat cover hoping that it would relieve the strain my hard plastic bike seat was putting on my unmentionables. It works to a certain degree, the gel is soft and although the cover does move around a bit it stays reasonably centered on the seat. It's just not the huge improvement I was hoping for.

Part of it could be me, I'm a slightly heavier guy and maybe my weight is causing part of the problem. What happens is, the gel in the cover is kind of thin and after few minutes of sitting on it the gel compresses. This basically negates any comfort the squishyness was giving and you're back to a hard seat again.

As far as installing, it couldn't have been easier. There is elastic and a draw string on the bottom that fits over most normal bicycle seats. You just set the cover on, pull the string tight and it stays snug pretty well. All I have to do is pull the draw string a little every now and then.

Overall, it's a decent product and I'm not sure a different kind would help any more than this one does. There is definitely an improvement over just the bicycle seat, just not as much as I would have liked.

Bell Gel Contour Bicycle Seat Cover Review

I just started out biking for exercise and health.I have an expensive road bike which I use as a "stationary" bike at home on a trainer.Unfortunately, the professional bike seat I have for my bicycle HURT like hell!!!My butt was NOT used to the pressure on my butt bones.I bought this gel pad and slipped it over my standard sized bike seat (not the big fat CRUISER bike seats, but a regular bicycle seat) and it fit like perfectly!)I have to second the "doofus" comment left by another here. You can tell by the picture alone that this bike seat cover will NOT fit over a wide seat typically seen on exercise bicycles or cruiser bicycles. It DOES fit an adult standard sized bicycle seat....Now, this pad will let my butt bones get used to biking and someday I won't even need it anymore - until then, it's comfortable biking for me!

Bell GelTech Ultimate Comfort Bicycle Seat Review

One of the metal springs broke in my bicycle seat so I bought the Bell GelTech as a replacement. I wasn't impressed.
* It's a very wide seat and quite short front to back. This apparently is the design for a larger, ahem, bottom. I'm an average sized guy and mine didn't fit very well.
* The seat feels great when you push your fingers in it. The gel feels nice and squishy. But...when you sit on it the comfort evaporates. After riding 6 miles on this seat it felt like I was sitting on a concrete slab with a little padding on it. I didn't think it was comfortable at all.
* Turn the seat over and you can see what looks like two large springs, one on each side. This would be great to cushion bumps. Unfortunately, they just "look" like springs. They're rubber disks and, yes, they do compress over bumps but they're nothing at all like springs. And you can really feel the bumps.
* Finally, the seat looks like it belongs on a circus bicycle. It's garish and ugly and people will point at you and laugh. Well, that may be a bit harsh. I was willing to live with the ugly looks if it worked. But it didn't.
I ended up buying a simple Schwinn "memory foam" model for about $17. It was the only Schwinn model my local store had. My guess is any of the Schwinn models would have been fine. The one I bought doesn't have springs either but it is much more comfortable than the Bell GelTech. And people have stopped laughing and pointing.
