The tire size for this bike is 12 inches with an inflatable tube but it sits lower than our Tonka 12 inch bike with training wheels. I bought this bike for my 2 year old but it is still to big for him. The minimum seat height is 15.5 inches. So, I used it on my smaller 5 year old to gain his confidence. My 5 year old was speeding around on a 16 inch bike with training wheels. After 4 30 minute sessions gliding with this bike my 5 year old was successful at riding without training wheels and with pedals down hill. After adding the pedals the bike is small for him and I will now put the bike away for my small 2 year old to use next year.My neighbor saw how well the 5 year old was doing so quickly and is going to borrow it for her 5 year old.
Of course to get the best value out of this bike you would be better off getting this bike around 3 years old so you can use it with the pedals too.
