Kryptonite Hardwire 2085 Key Cable Bicycle Lock (2-Foot x 6-Inch) Review

I am pleased with this lock. Its length makes it easy to secure the bike to things, though it also makes the lock large to store on the bike. Yet the velcro strip that comes with it makes it easy to secure so it isn't in the way. And the bracket is great, with an easy push-button release. A good, medium-high security lock.

Kryptonite Kryptoflex 1565 Key Cable Bicycle Lock (5/8-Inch x 2-Foot 2-Inches) Review

I am satisfied with this lock. The length is just right for locking to a post/fence/etc. Although the cable is quite stiff and takes a bit of wrestling to thread it thru the fence slats. Still, I'm glad I didn't get a 5 or 6 footer that would have been thinner gauge. Along with the bike frame bracket, this lock travels very well. The key action is smooth and works well.

Bell Key 'N Go Steel Cable Padlock for Bike Review

This should not be considered a standalone lock for a high risk area, but it is a quick and handy way to make your bike a little less attractive to steal. The ease of use ensures that it will get used frequently, and any lock has to be better than nothing at all.

My preferred use for this lock is as a backup for a good U-lock.With both locks, the bike looks fairly unfriendly for carrying away, and it allows you to lock the front wheel without removing it, which I find quite a pain.

Kryptonite R4 Retractor Combo Cable Lock (2.6mm x 90) Review

I ordered this lock because I wanted a lock that was light enough to store in my seat bag. It works. This lock isn't designed for serious security but it has a solid feel and a smooth operation that will act as a deterrent to the casual thief.Programming the 4 digit combination lock is a bit tricky but, once programmed, it works smoothly. 3 feet of cable is enough for most applications. I bought one for my wife as well and she uses it frequently and with some expectation of minimal security for short periods.

Again, not serious security but if light and sturdy is what you are looking for give this one a try.

OnGuard Terrier Combo 4 5061 Combination Cable Lock Review

The lock is exactly as the product description states. Therefore, I am giving it 5 stars because the product is exactly what it claims to be (the create your own combination is especially nice).

However, after getting this lock, I feel most people would be much better off with something different. I use the lock for securing my bike. I wanted something that was small and light, but didn't realize just how small this product really is. The cable is pretty short, just barely long enough to secure the frame and both wheels, so usually I have to leave one wheel unsecured if locking the bike to something. Also, the cable is very thin and just looks like it could easily be cut with a good wire cutter. Fortunately, I live in a small suburb where most people don't even bother locking up their bikes, so this is a nice small/light solution. However, when I commute to work I still bring the 12mm cable and U-Lock because I don't trust this little thing in a city like Milwaukee.

Avenir Coil Combo Cable Locks (10mm / 6 feet) Review

Fits all my needs - stays looped, glides open easily when the right combo is entered, and not when it isn't.Stretches enough to get it around the front tire, frame, and even a thick pole. The portion that screws on to the frame baffles me - it doesn't lock, and having the cable attached to it just leaves you with this awkward loop of cable sticking off of your bike.I just use it like a regular cable lock.I don't live in a particularly high-theft area (I'm in VA, just south of DC) and I feel pretty comfortable leaving my bike with this while I visit friends, go to the library, do some shopping, whatever.
