Nirve Hello Kitty Special Edition Retro Kitty Girls' Cruiser Bike (20-Inch Wheels) Review

I bought this bike for my 7-year old daughter as a Christmas Present.I have to say that it looked absolutely fabulous when assembled.It even came with touch-up paint in the two colors just incase there were any transportation dings (there was not).I added a flower basket to the handlebars, some streamers to the handles, and some heavy duty training wheels to complete the picture.Everyone who saw the bike remarked how perfect it looked (almost like PeeWee's bike).I am giving it 4-stars instead of 5 only because the assembly instructions that came with the bike are somewhat difficult.I am a senior engineer and very mechanically inclined and had a little difficulty assembling things in the right order to prevent myself from not having to remove and replace parts again and again.In all the assembly took about 2-hours.The manual does not refer specifically to this model but rather models that are both bigger and smaller than this one in different sections of the manual - so the assembler must figure out on their own how to interpolate and complete some of the steps from each of the various sections.Not hard - but a little more time consuming that I was expecting.I can definitely see how someone who is not handy with tools might take the whole box to a bike shop and pay for them to assemble the bike.

Bought this product when I purched an 18" Huffy bike for my son.When we were attempting to install the training wheels there wasn't enough clearance to screw on the bolt.It was just a 1/4" too thick on both sides.

Kettler Candy Girls' Bike (16-Inch Wheels) Review

We paid extra for the Kettler name because we wanted to avoid poorly made, potentially dangerous merchandise from big box stores. We had previously purchased a Kettler tricycle for our child and were very pleased with the German made quality. Knowing that more and more manufacturers are moving production to China, I investigated this pretty thoroughly. I did not attempt to contact Kettler and I wish I had.

When I received the bike and assembled it, the first thing I noticed was the atrocious quality of the welds. Any first year trade school student could do better. The welds are pitted and jagged. If any quality control procedure at all had been in place, this bike would have been rejected. This prompted me to look closely at the box where I found the "Made in China" label.

Please understand that I have nothing against the people of China. They are certainly capable of producing high quality goods. The sole reason any Western corporation moves production overseas is to produce those goods cheaply. The retail price stays the same or increases, and the company makes more profit for the investors.

What angers me is that the country of origin was not clearly identified. Kettler is trading on their previously well earned reputation for quality and substituting slipshod garbage like the Candy model. We paid twice as much for a bike with the Kettler name. I guess there is no other alternative, but if that's the case we'll just go buy the junk at big box mart like everyone else.

I bought this bike for my three year old son for Christmas. It was simple to assemble and easy for him to ride. The only thing that was remotely hard was getting the brake cable adjusted, I suppose that I'm not mechanically inclined on brake cables.

Columbia Girl's Song Bird Bike, Pink, 16-Inch Review

The picture did not represent the bike we received.The major difference was that the photo shows a hand brake but the unit we received had a 'coaster' brake.The item arrived exactly when it was supposed to but was missing a couple of items:1 of 4 plastic guards for the wheel nuts and an instruction sheet.Three adults (including an engineer) managed to assemble the bike in about 90 minutes although we're still guessing whether everything is in the right place!The quality is good, as expected, but I doubt that the decorative decals will last very long, and that is disappointing considering the price.However, the frame is sound and the paint quality is excellent so I'm sure it will render many hours of happy use--even if the decals do come off!

Diamondback Mini Impression Girls' Bike (16-Inch Wheels) Review

Seems like a good bike but it took a long time to put together without any instructions and unlike the other reviewer I did not have a pleasant experience with customer service. I was told that there was generic instructions on the website on bike assembly (not specifically for this bike) and that if I still had problems to take it to a bike shop. I also was told that this bike does not include instructions because it was not originally supposed to be sold unassembled (he said in a very condescending manner!). I told him that now that it is being sold this way I think they should at least have some basic instructions in the box!

Diamondback Lucky 16 BMX Bike (16-Inch Wheels) Review

I got this bike for my son's 7th birthday and it fits him perfectly.I even coast around on it so that tells ya it withstands some weight (although I'm only 160 pounds).
I recommend this bike to anyone that wants his younger son to have a decent bike to have a blast with.
We go on rides almost everyday and he keeps up with me.Although I do encourage him to start slow until he masters the bike.He doesn't have much trouble going up hills now either (not steep grades mind you).

Why do I give it 4 stars?The assembly instructions might as well be in a Chinese dialect lol.If you dont already know all the "biking" terms then you will be in the dark with these instructions.But in time, just looking at the bike and putting it together with common sense, with a few adjustments.You'll have that bike on the road in no time.Next time I'm near a bike shop I plan on taking my son's bike so they can properly adjust everything.

Kawasaki Mono Boys 16- Inch Bike, Black/Green Review

Well, it's a cheap bike and it shows. The front wheel is chronically loose and the rear wheel has a lot of friction. Also, the rear wheel is extremely out of alignment. Unfortunately, this is typical of bikes in this price range. I bought my daughter a Groovy Girls 16" bike a few years back that had the same problems. She dealt with it for two years, but I think this one is going back. The only good thing about it is that it's very easy to assemble, but maybe that's because I've had so much practice over the years.
